List of Tax Scams for the 2016 Filing Season
We've received numerous reports of students receiving calls from the "IRS" telling them that they owe money due to not paying taxes on student loans. These are bogus:
The IRS doesn't initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information. This includes requests for PIN numbers, passwords or similar access information for credit cards, banks or other financial accounts.
